An End and A Beginning

Today (or not quite yet in some parts of the world) is Mother's Day. K. Kanthimathi, that extraordinary mother of mine, breathed her last on February 9, 2015. Her life of excellence, love, compassion, and countless other virtues may have ended, but this website is a new beginning. It is but one of the many ways her loved ones plan to cherish and celebrate her ideals, her memories, and her many talents.

Here, you will read about my mother's life and the values she lived by, and memories of her as shared by her friends and family. But much more than that, you will be witness to her largely hidden talent as a writer of Tamil poems. She was also a wonderful cook, precise and consistent. You will see recipes from her collection, and the cooks among you may have things to try and taste. Last but not the least, this site will serve as a platform for announcing future events and efforts done in my mother's name.

If you knew Dr. K. Kanthimathi, I think you will enjoy the sights, sounds and words on this website, and perhaps be touched by her from the beyond. If you barely knew her and wished you had known her better, visiting here regularly would, I hope, help you do that. And if you didn't know my mother at all, there would still be many things to take away from here. A life well lived is always a great lesson to anyone who still inhabits this earth, and my mother taught us all many such lessons.

known her for more than 3decades. Admired her for her simplicity. Have spent many many evenings in the sit out of your home while doing Ph.D and relished her food.

Kantimathi madam was humility personified and very affectionate to all of us.

The First person who introduced me to Dr KVK and Kanthimathi Madam was professor from bangalore unuiversity Dr Venkata swamy reddy. He told me first yhng evenbefore i met them ,that "Madam is very very good cook and i will never forget and miss a chance to eat at professors house. She has magic in her hands". Initially i just thought that it was just a comment passed ., but when i had an opportunity to snack sometime at your house ,i understood how she had kept everyone bonded together. So silent yet powerfull
