அதிபன் (Adhiban)

Adhiban is the first grandson of Dr. Kanthimathi (her first son Arulnambi's son). His birthday is on September 16. She doted on Adhiban, enjoyed his company, loved his taste for good food and enjoyed cooking for him whenever he visited his grandparents. In 2013, when she saw a picture of Adhiban underwater during his swimming class, she was impressed. She shared her feelings (in Tamil) thus:

பேரன் தண்ணீரில் மூழ்கி முத்தெடுக்கக் கண்டு
ஆத்தா கண்ணீரில் மூழ்கினேன்
ஆனந்தக் கண்ணீரில் மூழ்கினேன்
என்னால் இயலாத ஒன்று
பேரனால் இயலக் கண்டு பூரித்தேன்.
அதிபன் எத்துறையில் அதிபனாவான்?
தெய்வத்தின் அருள் காட்டிக் கொடுக்கும்
வழி காட்டிக் கொடுக்கும்.

English translation:
Seeing my grandson go "pearl" diving underwater, I drowned in my tears of joy. I am so proud that he is able to do something that I have never been able to. In what field will Adhiban become a leader? God will show the way.
[The name "Adhiban" means "leader" in Tamil and was the first name suggested by Dr. Kanthimathi for her grandson.]
